For so many of us, Prince defined our 1980s experience through his music, his style, his image, and maybe most of all with his uttterly indelible, electric turn in PURPLE RAIN. Based loosely on his own life story, Prince's film debut cast him as "The Kid," the talented but troubled musician in Minneapolis struggling to make it big with his band, The Revolution. The film was a box office hit when it was released in 1984 and possessed a phenomonal soundtrack (including Oscar-winner 'When Doves Cry') that many consider his signature work, spawning numerous hit singles that would dominate airwaves for years to come. There is no better way for to toast, honour, and celebrate this creative, charismatic, and totally uncompromising musical genius than with PURPLE RAIN on the big screen and with big sound - the way it's meant to be seen.
