The Lobster

Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos (perhaps best known for his astounding, indelible arthouse hit Dogtooth) took home the 2015 Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize for The Lobster, an equally odd and wildly entertaining follow-up set In a similarly off-kilter dystopian society where single people (including Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, and John C. Reilly) must find mates within 45 days or risk being transformed into animals. Also starring Léa Seydoux and Ben Whishaw.

"A wickedly funny protest against societal preference for nuclear coupledom that escalates, by its own sly logic, into a love story of profound tenderness and originality." - Variety

THE LOBSTER (Yorgos Lanthimos, 2015 / 118 mins) | In a dystopian near future, single people, according to the laws of The City, are taken to The Hotel, where they are obliged to find a romantic partner in forty-five days or are transformed into beasts and sent off into The Woods.
