Hellboy (04)

Hellboy (04)

9:30pm - Thursday, Apr 11, 2019

Oscar-winning Mexican director Guillermo del Toro - one of the most visionary directors working in so-called "genre film", or any genre for that matter - scored a massive hit with critics and fans of Mike Mignola's fantasy-fueled comic book superhero HELLBOY with his cinematic adaptation in 2004. Featuring a phenomenal performance from Ron Perlman (that makeup!) and solid turns from the late, great John Hurt as well as Selma Blair, Rupert Evans, and Jeffrey Tambor, HELLBOY.

"This is the kind of movie you watch for its aura, for its appealing characters, for its marvelously sustained seriocomic romantic mood." (Salon.com)

"When the movie's story line concentrates on the character of Hellboy and his relationships with those important to him, the film becomes a unique romp, with an exciting yet vulnerable superhero at the center who just happens to be the spawn of Satan." (The New Yorker)
