Green Book

Green Book

6:30pm - Tuesday, Apr 30, 2019

Director Peter Farrelly's GREEN BOOK (which took home Oscars for Best Picture and Best Actor Mahershala Ali) is inspired by the true story of a working-class Italian-American bouncer from the Bronx named Tony Lipp, who becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist, Don Shirley, on a tour of venues from Manhattan to the American South during the 1960's. They must rely on "The Green Book" to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans at that time. Confronted with racism, danger-as well as unexpected humanity and humor-they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime. Also starring Viggo Mortenson, Linda Cardellini, Trevante Rhodes, Barry Jenkins.

"A supremely likeable film. Its message might seem obvious and its template overcooked, but it boasts a warm heart, with two astoundingly good lead performances to guide it home." (Empire Magazine)

"It's a handsomely made and watchable picture and there is a real warmth in Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen's performances." (Guardian)
