Jojo Rabbit

Jojo Rabbit

6:30pm - Monday, Mar 9, 2020

Writer-director Taika Waititi (THOR: RAGNAROK, HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE) brings his signature style of humor and pathos to his latest film, JOJO RABBIT, a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother is hiding a young Jewish girl in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (played by Waititi, doing triple duty here), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism. Based on the novel of the same name by Christine Leunens, Waititi took home this year's Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for his efforts. With Roman Griffin Davis, Scarlett Johansson (who received a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nod for her performance), Thomasin McKenzie, Rebel Wilson, Sam Rockwell, Stephen Merchant, and Alfie Allen.

"Waititi's faith in the notion that a child will lead us out of ignorance may be naïve. It's also deeply affecting." (Rolling Stone Magazine)

"'Jojo Rabbit' draws upon the past to make salient points about the state of the world today, with Waititi urging us (sometimes in not so subtle ways) to pay attention to history..." (Chicago Sun-Times)

"It's Waititi's ability to balance unassailable goofy moments with an acknowledgment of real-life horrors that makes the movie exceptional." (Time Magazine)
