No Country For Old Men

9:30pm - Sunday, Aug 2, 2020

In 2007, the Coen Brothers (aka Joel and Ethan) took home a veritable booty of Oscar gold for NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, an adaptation that had them spinning Cormac McCarthy's grim, darkly funny novel into an often unbearably tense, blood-soaked, highly cinematic modern Western. This story of a Vietnam vet who stumbles upon a drug deal gone horribly awry - dead bodies, $2 million dollars cash, and a hoard of heroin in the empty Texas desert - is bolstered by powerful lead performances from Oscar-winner Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Woody Harrelson, and Tommy Lee Jones.

"Violent, poetic, gripping, thrilling and blackly funny: that’ll be the Coens doing what they do best then. Now with added humanity." (Empire Magazine)

"The Coens squeeze us without mercy in a vise of tension and suspense, but only to force us to look into an abyss of our own making." (Rolling Stone Magazine)
