Pink Floyd: The Wall (Final Screening!)

7:30pm - Saturday, Sep 5, 2020

"If ya don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding! How can ya have any pudding if ya don't eat ya meat?"

We are tipping our cinematic hat to the late, great Sir Alan Parker with a prime time screening of one of our favourite titlesof his, rock opera THE WALL, the director's acid-infused visual riff on Pink Floyd's iconic album of the same name. Sir Bob Geldof stars as a successful but drugged-out musician named Pink, who is looking back on his isolated childhood from the confines of a Los Angeles hotel room. Through a swirl of flashbacks and chemical-induced hallucinations, Pink recalls his lonely upbringing, during which he built a symbolic wall to the world as he coped with the death of his father (James Laurenson) and the overbearing ways of his mother (Christine Hargreaves). Also starring Bob Hoskins.

"Parker's visual synthesis with the music, much aided by Scarfe's rip-roaring visions of doom and destruction which turn light into darkness at the flick of a pen rather than a switch, is almost perfect." (The Guardian)
