This bizarre surrealistic black comedy takes place in a small fictitious post-apocalyptic town where food is scarce and butcher Clapet has the macabre business of using human flesh to feed his customers. Yet when his daughter falls in love with his next slaughter victim things turn into chaos. With Dominique Pinon, Jean-Claude Dreyfus, Maire-Laure Dougnac.
"Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro made a brilliant feature film debut with this bizarre and visually stunning comedy about cannibalism." (FILM4)
"With their detached, sardonic and decidedly sick slant, Jeunet and Caro have served up a burnt-to-a-crisp feast." (Hollywood Reporter)
"Funny, imaginative, ghoulish and rather beautiful." (The Spectator)
"Fair bet for cultdom, a lot more likeable than its subject matter suggests, and simply essential viewing for vegetarians." (Empire Magazine)

DELICATESSEN (Marc Caro, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, 1991 / 109 minutes / 18A / French with English subtitles) Clapet (Jean-Claude Dreyfus) is a butcher who owns a run-down apartment building in post-apocalyptic France. The building is in constant need of a handyman, because Clapet routinely butchers them and sells them as food. The latest in the long ling of disposable workers is Louison (Dominique Pinon), a former circus clown desperate for work and lodging. But this time Clapet's plan hits a snag when his young daughter (Marie-Laure Dougnac) falls head over heels for the lovable Louison.
