9 to 5

"They just use your mind and you never get the credit
It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it..."

Tuesday, March 8 is International Women's Day (March is Women's History Month), which is as good a time as any to revisit something of a cinematic unicorn: A blockbuster 80s comedy that also happens to feature three of the funniest leading women ever assembled in a celluloid feminist fantasy fable.

Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton (in her big-screen debut) shine as three female employees who, when fed up with their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical, bigot of a boss, devise a plan to turn the tables on him - and take over the office. And of course, it goes without saying, they create a more efficient, sociable, and pleasant work environment. Shocker! Also starring Dabney Coleman (and one of the most iconic, catchy, original songs ever composed for a movie, courtesy of Ms. Parton).

"Dolly Parton is, on the basis of this one film, a natural-born movie star, a performer who holds our attention so easily that it's hard to believe it's her first film." (Roger Ebert)
