Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief

Based on journalist Lawrence Wright's Pulitzer prize-winning book "Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood and the Prison of Belief," Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney's (THE ARMSTRONG LIE) explosive new documentary on the inner-workings of Scientology is an unflinching look at the organization, deconstructing everything from the "cult" of charismatic leader L. Ron Hubbard to his organization's dubious and far-reaching impact on American government, Hollywood, and the often tragic impact on the personal lives of its own followers. Co-written by author Lawrence Wright, the film features many candid interviews with former Scientologists, including Oscar-winning director Paul Haggis, who very publicly disavowed the organization he was a devoted member of for decades. Join us for a panel and Q&A following the screening, featuring author and activist Jamie DeWolf (L. Ron Hubbard's great-grandson and an outspoken critic of the group), as well as other special guests.
