An erotic rumination on obsession and paranoia, it is considered, by many, to be his greatest cinematic achievement. James Stewart stars as an ex-police officer with an intense fear of heights who is hired to surveil an old friend's wife in the hopes of preventing her from committing suicide.  But all is not as it seems, as his work moves from voyeurism to obsession. (It goes without saying that Hitchcock's haunting, compelling work is uniquely revelatory about the director's own predilections and hang-ups.) Also starring Kim Novak, and Barbara Bel Geddes.
