This film tells the story of Ann Shulgin and Sasha Shulgin, a married couple who were pioneers of the psychedelic revolution. More than a profile of two people, this film is also a glimpse into a future that includes psychedelic exploration. It’s also a meditation on chemistry, on connection, and on growth.
Following the 88-minute film, director Connie Littlefield will be joining in via Skype for a live Q&A. Additional guests and speakers TBD.

BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY (Connie Littlefield, 2021 / 88 mins / PG) "In the 1970s, Dr. Alexander "Sasha" Shulgin significantly contributed to the development and psychopharmaceutical use of MDMA: a catalyst to personal doors entombed or unknown. His widow, co-author, and research partner, Ann-alongside friends, family, and colleagues-gives a guided tour of their life and laboratory, reflecting on how risks and revelations opened a world of compound enlightenment. Stippled with spirituality, sadness, and skepticism, the Shulgins' chemical love story examines the power of psychedelic psychotherapy, sacred alchemy, and challenging the path of misunderstood resistance."
