Jackie Brown (25th Anniversary Screening)

"I sure hope you didn't do anything stupid, Jackie."

Join us at the Rio Theatre on Wednesday, December 28 for a very special 25th Anniversary screening of what many people consider to be iconic writer-director Quentin Tarantino's most under-appreciated film, JACKIE BROWN. Based on Elmore Leonard's 1992 novel "Rum Punch," the film stars legendary actress Pam Grier (never better - which is saying a lot because she's always amazing) as a flight attendant who, facing years in prison for a scheme gone awry, decides to make a plan to win back her freedom and get rich. With Samuel L. Jackson, Robert De Niro, Michael Keaton, Michael Bowen, Robert Forster, Bridget Fonda.

"Maybe posterity will crown 'Jackie Brown' as his best film and maybe not. Either way it shows that mainstream plotting and noir romance are yet more movie styles that Tarantino can fabricate: brilliantly." (Guardian)

"'Jackie Brown' may be the only Quentin Tarantino movie that gets noticeably better with each viewing." (VICE Magazine)

"The tale is filled with funny, gritty Tarantino lowlife gab and a respectable body count, but what is most striking is the film's gallantry and sweetness." (Newsweek)

"The film is more Jarmusch than Peckinpah -- its soul is in the minutiae." (Slate)

"It's like a scuzz-bucket film noir directed by Stanley Kubrick at his most static-mesmeric." (Entertainment Weekly)
