Women Talking
Based on the best-selling novel by Miriam Toews, WOMEN TALKING follows a group of women in an isolated religious colony as they struggle to reconcile their faith with a series of sexual assaults committed by the colony's men.
Canadian writer-director Sarah Polley took home the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for this film that features a strong ensemble including Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, with Ben Whishaw, and Frances McDormand.
"It is compelling, gripping, powerful, as tense as a thriller. Think of it this way: it’s like Twelve Angry Men, but in this instance it’s Eight Angry Women (in a hayloft)." (The Spectator)
"A remarkable ensemble of performers unite for this combustible, timely chamber-piece that hails the return of Sarah Polley as an ambitious and empirical filmmaker." (Empire Magazine)
"It's a film with so much depth and, of course, one of the greater casts you'll see this year." (Filmweek NPR)
