SOUTHLAND TALES (Richard Kelly / 2007 / 158 mins / 14A) With the United States under the threat of nuclear attack, the lives of several people converge in a dystopian Los Angeles. Movie star Boxer Santaros plans his next film with the help of ambitious porn actress Krysta Now and troubled policeman Roland Taverner. Meanwhile, Marxist revolutionaries, greedy corporations and secretive government agencies pursue their separate agendas among a paranoid populace.

Rebekah Del Rio, as featured in Richard Kelly’s iconic film SOUTHLAND TALES, will be joining us at the Rio Theatre for a live, pre-film performance along with joining Kelly for a special post-screening Q&A. Rebekah was cast in Kelly’s film after he saw her iconic, dreamlike role in David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive. La Llorona de Los Ángeles (“The weeping woman of LA”) will be debuting a new single to commemorate the directors cult film classic DONNIE DARKO.

Starring as herself in TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN, Rebekah performs a song she wrote with David Lynch and the late, great John Neff, “No Stars” in Episode 10.

Featured on the Grammy Nominated Box Set “Big Mess” by Danny Elfman, released in 2022, Rebekah included the song “We Belong”. She performed her “No Hay Banda” World Tour in 2021-2022 to the delight of many fans (including those at the Rio Theatre!). Her bilingual versions of songs such as “Crying”, “Hallelujah”, and even “Mad World” have been dubbed as “A dazzling star turn” by the NY Times.

Rebekah’s new Pulitzer Prize-nominated single “Adios”, is a song to help bring awareness and help to the LGBTQ high risk youth suffering from homelessness and trafficking.
