If you dig Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn you’re going to hate Little Victor, an untamed maverick whose raw, primitive sounds are the utter antithesis of the contemporary blues model. While he is often viewed as somewhat of a renegade who performs not on the tried and true blues circuit but generally more at rock clubs, Little Victor’s credentials are impeccable and his talent impressive. He can effortlessly switch from shadowy, primitive low blues to the polished, uptown Beale Streetstyle R&B of Johnny Ace and Bobby Bland to wild, wicked boogies, and all of it is put across with expressive, souldeep conviction. Then just who is Little Victor? He was born in Rome in 1967 to a Sicilian mother and a US serviceman from Arkansas an Air Force brat. As a teenager he spent his summers in Memphis, TN visiting well bluesconnected relatives. His uncle is revered University of Memphis ethno- musicologist Dr David Evans while his cousin Tav Falco leads the underground bluesrockabilly art group Panther Burns. He has hung and played with Hubert Sumlin, Louisiana Red, RL Burnside, Robert Balfour his performances have been best desribed as “juke joint cabaret”. He has been labelled the King Of Grit or the Beale Street Blues Bopper. Today he lives in Brighton, UK and tours Europe and makes ocassional forays back to his homeland. He has just released his ninth album “Buzz, Busted & Broke” with Kim Wilson, Carl Sonny Leyland and Big John Atkinson. Along with his many lineups of The

Bloodhounds, The Dog has carved out a respectable following not only here but across Canada. This January he was voted best Canadian Harmonica player at the coveted Maple Blues Awards while his latest recording “What It Is” is destined to become a blues classic.
