The Room: 20th Anniversary Screening & Christmas Party with Greg Sestero

"This play can be played without any age restriction. It will work if the chemistry between all the characters makes sense. Human behavior and betrayal applies to all of us. It exists within ourselves. You love somebody. Do you? What is love?"

So begins Tommy Wiseau's first draft of what eventually became his landmark 2003 pop-culture "disasterpiece," THE ROOM - aka, 'The Citizen Kane of Bad Movies.' In the 20 years since the film was first unleashed upon unsuspecting cinema audiences, THE ROOM has blossomed into a bona-fide pop-culture phenomenon, and still regularly plays to legions of fans at indie movie theatres around the world.

Actor and best-selling author Greg Sestero - co-star, line producer on the film, and former Wiseau roommate - is returning to the Rio Theatre to present a very special 20th Anniversary screening of THE ROOM and this time... There will be holiday cheer. (And yes, that means Ugly Christmas sweaters, red dresses, and costumes are very welcome and encouraged!!)

In addition to celebrating THE ROOM's incredible 20th Anniversary, Greg will lead and direct a live reading of the first edition of Tommy's original screenplay (which includes settings, dialogue and plot devices that never made it on screen - featuring members of the audience!), a Q&A, and supplying live commentary during the film! Whether you're a long-time fan or not, this will be a rare glimpse into the vision of - without question - one of the most singular, iconic cinematic figures of the twenty-first century. This is a fun and unique opportunity to live out your deep-held dream of re-enacting your favourite so-bad-it's-good movie, and learn about Greg's incredible experience as he doles out his hilarious insight into the monumentally awesome world of Tommy Wiseau's, uh, "masterpiece."

Sestero first became known to audiences for his role as "Mark" in the modern day cult-classic. In the wake of that experience, he authored his memoir, THE DISASTER ARTIST: MY LIFE INSIDE 'THE ROOM', THE GREATEST BAD MOVIE EVER MADE, which went on to become a world-wide bestseller and Golden Globe-winning film directed by James Franco.

Greg will also be available for meet n' greets, a photo-op, and book signing.

Fun Fact: In 2014, while James Franco was in town shooting THE INTERVIEW, he came to the Rio Theatre for a screening of THE ROOM and a live reading from THE DISASTER ARTIST, hosted by Greg Sestero. Franco was so taken by Greg's memoir and the rapturous response of the crowd, that they shook on the making of the feature that very night!
