Walter Hill DOUBLE BILL: The Warriors & Streets of Fire

Walter Hill DOUBLE BILL: The Warriors & Streets of Fire

9:30pm - Wednesday, Jul 3, 2024

"Can you dig it?"

We're getting into the summer groove with a prime time double bill featuring not one, but two phenomenally stylish cult-classics from iconic filmmaker Walter Hill: THE WARRIORS and STREETS OF FIRE. See one, or see 'em both for one sweet price!

Hill's action-adventure-musical STREETS OF FIRE is a bona fide cult-classic guilty pleasure that, upon its release in 1984, spoke directly to the MTV generation. Featuring a memorable soundtrack from musician Ry Cooder and billed as a "rock and roll fable from another time, another place," the film stars Willem Dafoe as Raven Shaddock, who - with his gang of merciless biker friends - kidnaps rock singer Ellen Aim (Diane Lane). Ellen's former lover, soldier-for-hire Tom Cody (Michael Paré), happens to be passing through town on a visit. In an attempt to save his star act, Ellen's manager Billy Fish (Rick Moranis) hires Tom to rescue her. Along with a former soldier named McCoy (Amy Madigan), they battle through dangerous cityscapes, determined to get Ellen back.

Costumes very welcome - and encouraged.(And yes, there will even be prizes, so let your Fury freak flag fly.) But please: Leave your glass bottles and baseball bats at home, OK?

Presented in partnership with our beautifully stylish friends and East Van neighbours from East Vanity Parlour

"A carefully stylized movie that's something like pure cinema." (UK Observer)

When he is killed, a rag-tag gang called The Warriors are falsely blamed, at which point they must figure out a way fight their way all the way from the Bronx to the safety of home in Coney Island while every other gang and the cops are hunting them down... And trying to kill them.
