Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!
Join us at the Rio Theatre on Tuesday, January 26 as we raise our glass and toast the land down under (where women glow and men plunder) on Australia Day with the hilarious cult-classic comedy THE CASTLE followed by the controversial CHOPPER, starring Eric Bana in the true story of one the nation's most infamous criminals.
Director Rob Sitch's (who also co-wrote the script) THE CASTLE centers on working-class tow-truck driver and father of four Darryl Kerrigan (Michael Caton), whose only distinguishing feature is his beaming reverence for his home and family. Although his kids appear to be underachievers and his home is located on the edge of a major international airport, his family is his pride and joy and his home is his castle. When goverment officials demand that Kerrigan sell his house for an expansion of the airport, he fights back through the legal system- all the way up to the Supreme Court.
In CHOPPER, Eric Bana stars as notorious Aussie criminal Mark "Chopper" Read, whose best-selling memoir "From the Inside" provides the basis for the controversial film. CHOPPER tells the story of a violent narcissist whose wild imagination, natural charisma and homicidal tendencies leads him to murky grey zone somewhere between fact, fiction, and utter fantasy.
