Dangerous Animals
Australian filmmaker Sean Byrne‘s (THE DEVIL’S CANDY) latest, the cold blooded survival thriller DANGEROUS ANIMALS, is a must-see for fans of genre horror.
Zephyr, a solitary surfer with a troubled past has come to Australia’s Gold Coast to find an escape, but her peaceful existence is disrupted when she meets Moses, a local real estate agent and fellow surfer. After a romantic night with him, she flees to the ocean but is abducted by Tucker, a shark–obsessed psycho-sadomasochistic serial killer. Soon, things go from bad to the absolute bloody worst, and she finds herself facing a terrifying showdown somewhere between onboard the ship and the sharks below. Zephyr must challenge the real monster: man. With Hassie Harrington, Jai Courtney, Ella Newton.
“Making this work requires wit, the right tone and a ruthleJosh Heuston, ss sense of pace. [Director Sean] Byrne manages all three with a sure hand.” (New York Times)
“What truly elevates this film above the mediocrity one might expect from such a project is the credibility its actors bring to their characters.” (Los Angeles Times)
“Generally, movies that deal with the triumph of the human spirit are just so much multiplex chum. But Dangerous Animals is the rare survival thriller in which it feels like something is at stake beyond the mechanics of the story line.” (The Ringer)
