Clueless (30th Annviersary Screening)

"Rollin' with the homies...."

December 16 marks literary icon Jane Austen's 250th birthday, and we're teaming up with The Jane Austen Society of Vancouver to celebrate her enduring legacy with a double bill featuring two beloved (and very different!) cinematic adaptations of her classic romantic novel, "Emma" featuring screenings of EMMA (1996) and CLUELESS.

Writer-director Amy Heckerling (the high-larious genius she-brain behind FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH and LOOK WHO'S TALKING)had one of the biggest hits of her career with CLUELESS in 1995, a very modern re-telling of Austen's groundbreaking novel (like, as if you didn't already know that).

Shallow, rich and socially successful Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is at the top of her Beverly Hills high school's pecking scale. Seeing herself as a matchmaker, Cher first coaxes two teachers into dating each other. Emboldened by her success, she decides to give hopelessly klutzy new student Tai (Brittany Murphy) a makeover. When Tai becomes more popular than she is, Cher realizes that her disapproving ex-stepbrother (Paul Rudd) was right about how misguided she was -- and falls for him.
