On Wednesday, August 26, Vancouver Horror Show returns to the Rio Theatre with one of the biggest hits of VHS 2025: Woody Bess’ wildly inventive, wickedly funny horror-comedy PORTAL TO HELL with filmmakers including writer-director Bess, actor Trey Holland, and Lucas Ford in tow.

When a down-on-his-luck debt collector discovers a literal gateway to Hell inside his neighbourhood laundromat, he is offered a demonic bargain: deliver three deserving souls or watch his closest friend be dragged into the abyss. What follows is a gloriously strange collision of supernatural horror, razor-sharp comedy and unexpected heart, featuring unforgettable performances from Trey Holland, legendary character actor Keith David, and a spectacularly unhinged Richard Kind.

Following its Canadian premiere at VHS 2025, PORTAL TO HELL took home four Golden Tape Awards—including Best Film, Best Director, Best Lead Performance and Best Supporting Performance. Now, VHS is bringing it back to the big screen for one hell of a night at the Rio Theatre.
