Madonna: Truth or Dare 25th Anniversary Screening
"Anybody that says my show is 'neat' has got to go."
Don't just stand there, let's get to it. Strike a pose, there's nothing to it... Alek Keshiashan's groundbreaking, controversial TRUTH OR DARE was a daring chronicle of the music world's reigning pop queen, Madonna, and her backstage antics (not to mention phenomenal onstage performances) during 1990's Blond Ambition tour. Her supporting cast of characters - a bevvy of charismatic dancers, back-up singers, and bit players including costume designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, sometime boyfriend Warren Beatty, consummate critic Kevin Costner and others - add as much to the story as Ms. Madonna Louise Ciccone herself. Upon its release, TRUTH OR DARE would become the highest-grossing documentary film of all time, its highly stylized and endlessly entertaining marriage of black and white 'cinema verite' drama and high-octane concert footage is often cited as the forerunner to the onslaught of reality TV culture that would come in its wake.

MADONNA: TRUTH OR DARE (Alek Keshiashan, 1991 / 120 mins / 18A) From the rain of Japan, through threats of arrest for 'public indecency' in Canada, and a birthday tribute to her father in Detroit, this documentary follows Madonna on her 1990 'Blond Ambition' concert tour. Filmed in black and white, with the concert pieces in glittering MTV color, it is an intimate look at the work of the music performer, from a prayer circle with the dancers before each performance to bed games with the dance troupe afterwards.
