Poignant

Poignant

1:30pm - Saturday, Nov 5, 2016

The Rio Grind Film Festival is pleased to present the Canadian Premiere of director Jaspreet Kaur's locally-lensed horror thriller, POIGNANT. Inspired by a true story, POIGNANT tells the story of the dangers a young girl encountered prior to her gruesome death.

The filmmakers were themselves inspired by the true story of an unresolved crime scene that unfolded in Mission, British Columbia. Upon visiting the sites associated with a missing teenage girl, they encountered unexpected supernatural experiences of their own. Filmed on location in BC, POIGNANT speaks to real experiences - where restless spirits have been lingering.

POIGNANT features Laura Mitchell in the lead role of “Amy”, a medical researcher who is caught between falling victim to frightening hallucinations or answering the call of the supernatural. Being chosen to carry the girl’s spirit to the other side is a situation that Amy cannot walk away from…

In a story about danger, regret and the other side, POIGNANT leaves you asking the question: Would you answer if the other side comes knocking on your door?
