David Lynch: The Art Life

David Lynch: The Art Life

6:30pm - Thursday, Apr 20, 2017

An intimate journey through the formative years of American auteur David Lynch’s life, this riveting portrait explores how the formative experiences of his youth led him to become the artist he is today. The film includes archival footage and home movies, as well as interviews with Lynch as he paints in his studio.

From his idyllic upbringing in small town America to the dark streets of Philadelphia, we follow Lynch as he traces the events that have helped to shape one of cinema’s most enigmatic directors. DAVID LYNCH: THE ART LIFE infuses Lynch’s own art, music and early films, shining a light into the dark corners of his unique world, giving audiences a better understanding of the man and the artist.

"Throughout the documentary, the undisguised regret and longing of David Lynch's reminiscences are often startling." (Slant Magazine)

"DAVID LYNCH: THE ART LIFE strips the man's story of all the surreal frou frou that tends to colour conversation about him. It's low on drama, but a keen and rare insight into one of modern art's most fascinating people." (Film Experience)
