The Bad Batch

The Bad Batch

9:00pm - Sunday, Jun 25, 2017

Filmmaker Ana Lily Amirpour's sophomore effort takes a sharp detour from her breakthrough, self-described "Iranian Vampire Spaghetti Western," A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT, with a highly-stylized love story with undertones of social commentary - set in a cannibal commune in a future dystopia, somewhere in the desert wasteland of Texas. THE BAD BATCH follows a young woman (Suki Waterhouse) condemned to wander the desert, who is taken by the flesh-eating cannibal community. She manages to escape, only to encounter and befriend her former captors (including Jason Momoa, aka 'Game of Thrones' Khal Drogo). In order to endure the unforgiving environment and avoid getting slaughtered in a harsh world where savagery is central to survival , the pair will have trust each other and remember the most important rule of all "Don't play with your food." Also starring Keanu Reeves, Giovanni Ribisi, Jim Carrey, and Diego Luna.

"Even if THE BAD BATCH calls to mind the post-apocalyptic landscape of MAD MAX, Amirpour's visual sensibility remains strikingly unique." (The Austin Chronicle)

"No matter how strange or confusing the story gets, details and humor ground the narrative, with the blanks filled in by a simple guiding premise about the importance of human connection and artistic expression." (L.A. Weekly)

"With electrifying visuals, a score to die for and a stellar cast, Amirpour has created another cinematic chapter that is as uncategorizable as her first." (Rotten Tomatoes)
