Batman: The Movie (1966)

Kaaapowie!

Holy feature film, Batman ... This one based on the tongue-in-cheek, campy 1960's television series which helped form the basis of so many of the modern super hero films that are such a staple in pop-culture and movideom. The late, great Adam West's portrayal of Gotham's mysterious Dark Knight will undoubtedly always be a part of that character's cinematic DNA, and on Sunday, July 9 we are raising a glass and toasting his legacy as the caped crusader with a special screening of the original Batman movie, released in 1966.

The film sees Batman/Bruce Wayne (West) and his cohort Robin/Dick Grayson (Burt Ward) battle sharks, Catwoman (Lee Merriwether), The Joker (Cesar Romero), The Riddler (Frank Gorshin) and The Penguin (Burgess Meredith) on the big screen. Can they try to prevent the bad guys from taking over the world...? With a wham! and a pow! and a zip! ... our heroes just might win.

*Audience costumes welcome - and encouraged!! There may even be prizes....

"BATMAN: THE MOVIE elevates camp to an art form -- and has a blast doing it, every gloriously tongue-in-cheek inch of the way." (Rotten Tomatoes)
