Seoul Station (With or w/out Blade of the Inmmortal Double Feature)

Seoul Station (With or w/out Blade of the Inmmortal Double Feature)

6:30pm - Tuesday, Dec 5, 2017

Directed by Sang-ho Yeon (THE KING OF PIGS, THE FAKE), the highly entertaining and socially aware animated zombie thriller SEOUL STATION is a kind of "prequel" to Yeon’s live-action horror film, the international mega-blockbuster TRAIN TO BUSAN (Korea's highest grossing film of 2016 that also enjoyed several sold out screenings at the Rio!). SEOUL STATION is a unique addition to the horror canon and is a solid zombie thriller on every level, winning Best Animated Feature at Fantasia Fest in 2016 (among many other awards).

Catch both SEOUL STATION as a double bill with Takashi Miike's latest, BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL, on Tuesday, December 5. See one, or see 'em both for one sweet price!

"The film's social advocacy and regional specificity, as well as its effective staging, make it a worthy entry into the zombie canon." (The Playlist)

"SEOUL STATION is a superb piece of work which blurs lines between Them and Us in complex ways, breathing new life into the undead in the process. It deserves a wide audience." (Eye For Film)

"Like all the best horror films, the grisly events unfolding onscreen are merely a cypher through which the filmmaker can address prominent social issues." (South China Morning Post)

SEOUL STATION (Sang-ho Yeon, 2016 / 92 mins / PG / In Korean with English subtitles) Suk-gyu is desperately looking for his runaway daughter. He spares neither money nor effort and after a while his search leads to results. One of his contacts claims to have found the girl. But joy is replaced by shock when he finds out that she works as a prostitute in the center of Seoul. Suk-gyu decides to pose as a client to get close to his daughter. But just before the long awaited and dreaded reunion, panic breaks out at nearby Seoul Station. The place is very popular with the homeless of the Korean capital. And one of them, who had died during the day, comes alive again and start attacking and eating another misfortunate. The undead cannibal epidemic spreads like wildfire. The authorities hermetically close off the city center and decide to wait out the end of the outbreak, until there’s no one left…
