Born in Atlanta, Ga., raised in Florida TINSLEY ELLIS has been called one of the most honoured blues-rock guitarists in the world. On the eve of his 19th release Tinsley begins a 4 month cross-country tour of the USA and Canada. In terms of travel his date at The Rio will prove to be one of the most gruelling part of the tour. Friday night in Bakersfield, Ca. and Sunday night here in Vancouver which includes 19 hours of non-stop driving. The rigours of a travelling bluesman, a true road warrior. “A musician never got famous staying home” Ellis states.

Already an accomplished musician at 18, Tinsley Ellis returned to Atlanta and immersed himself in a new band called The Heartfixers with veteran blues vocalist and harpist Chicago Bob Nelson. They quickly became one of Atlanta’s top-draw blues bands with albums for Landslide Records. Signed to Alligator Records in 1988 Tinsley released 5 albums in 10 years for the label including the 1994 release “Storm Warning” featuring 2 tracks with 15 year old and soon to be guitar guru Derek Trucks. As his fanbase grew Tinsley moved onto Capricorn Records, Telarc, a return to Alligator for 3 more albums and these last few with his own label, Heartfixer Records. With the new album “Winning Hand” Tinsley Ellis has returned to Alligator Records for a third time. Album release is January 12th 2018.

Now 60 years old, Tinsley Ellis when not on the road can be found in Atlanta playing with his best friends Derek Trucks, Oliver Wood, Jonny Lang, Warren Haynes and members of Widespread Panic.

“Feral blues guitar ... non-stop gigging has sharpened his six-string to a razor’s edge ... his eloquence dazzles ... he achieves pyrotechnics that rival an early Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton ---- Rolling Stone

Opening for Tinsley Ellis will be Port Moody’s ROCKY MILINO Jr. with his C4D Band. Earlier this year Rocky released a 7 song self produced (mixed by Bill Buckingham) CD called “Pleasantside Blues”. Local blues pundits will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of this disc.
