In 1990, Joel Schumacher (ST. ELMO'S FIRE, THE LOST BOYS, BATMAN FOREVER) assembled a star studded, post-Brat Pack cast - including Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon and William Baldwin - to tell the unlikely story of five medical students who play with science in an attempt to find out if there is, in fact, life after death. With both access to equipment and some mad medical skills, they figure out a way to "flatline" for a few seconds (thereby simulating and experiencing a kind of death) before being resuscitated. A number of them are "killed" and brought back with vivid memories of their past, and the experiment is deemed a success. However, it seems as though they may have gotten more than they bargained for when their past literally comes back to haunt them... There are consequences for playing "God."
