Clerks

11:55pm - Friday, Mar 30, 2018

"This job would be great if it wasn't for the f***ing customers."

In 1994, a young writer-director (and Vancouver Film School dropout) named Kevin Smith made a huge splash on the cinematic landscape with his feature debut CLERKS; an oddball, brazen, occasionally filthy (snowball!) yet thoroughly independent effort that centered on a day-in-the-life of a group of Gen-X employees at a convenience store in New Jersey...

The rest, as they say, is history.

And seeing as how the one-and-only Kevin Smith is joining us for not one but two (!) sold out #SavetheRio shows on March 30, we felt there was only one choice for our Friday Late Night Movie: CLERKS! Proceeds from this screening go directly towards the #SavetheRio campaign.

"CLERKS is so utterly authentic that its heroes have never heard of their generation." (Roger Ebert)

"CLERKS remains a defining debut, a symbolic shot into the darkened domain of legitimate movie-making." (Pop Matters)

CLERKS (Kevin Smith, 1994 / 92 mins / 18A) Convenience and video store clerks Dante and Randal are sharp-witted, potty-mouthed and bored out of their minds. So in between needling customers, the counter jockeys play hockey on the roof, visit a funeral home and deal with their love lives.
