Tully
Writer Diablo Cody, director Jason Reitman (UP IN THE AIR), and star Charlize Theron reunite with TULLY, a film that can easily be viewed as something of a thematic, spiritual sequel to both the Oscar-winning JUNO (directed by Reitman, from Cody's Oscar-winning script) and 2011's sorely under-seen coming-of-age comedy YOUNG ADULT. In this very modern look at modern motherhood, Theron plays Marlo, an overwhelmed mother of three who, is "gifted" a night nanny by her brother following the birth of her newborn. While initially wary and hesitant of the extravagance, Marlo comes to form a bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging nanny, Tully. With Mark Duplass, Mackenzie Davis, and Ron Livingston.
"TULLY delves into the modern parenthood experience with an admirably deft blend of humor and raw honesty, brought to life by an outstanding performance by Charlize Theron." (Rotten Tomatoes)
"The act of tending an infant is handled with some of the grimmest humor this side of ERASERHEAD." (The Wrap)
"[The] deceptively simple story takes on a range of unpredictable moods and shadings: wryly funny, claustrophobic, emotionally shattering. It's never quite clear where Tully is heading until, in a revelatory moment, it gets there." (Newsday)
"It's funny, touching and vital." (Rolling Stone)
