Cat On a Hot Tin Roof
6:30pm - Tuesday, Aug 21, 2018
"Maggie the cat is alive. I'm alive!"
Based on the iconic play by American playwright Tennessee Williams, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF is an intense, absorbing drama centered on a wealthy Southern family's idiosyncratic dynamics and features two of Hollywood's greatest legends (Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor) in career-high performances.
After Brick Pollitt (Newman) injures himself while drunkenly revisiting his high school sports-star days, he and his tempestuous wife, Maggie (Taylor), visit his family's Mississippi plantation for the 65th birthday of his hot-tempered father, "Big Daddy." Cantankerous even with declining health, Big Daddy (who doesn't realize how ill he is) demands to know why Brick and Maggie haven't yet given him a grandchild, unlike Brick's brother Gooper (Jack Carson) and his fecund wife, Mae (Madeleine Sherwood). Drama follows as the family members, who are well aware of "Big Daddy's" imminent demise, focus their eyes on his remaining fortune.
"Two of cinema's most iconic stars on top form make this worth a good look." (Empire Magazine)
"An intense, important motion picture." (Variety)
