Riki Oh: The Story of Ricki

Riki Oh: The Story of Ricki

11:15pm - Friday, Dec 7, 2018

The cult classic Hong Kong martial arts slaughter-thon - a frequently requested title - finally splatters across the Rio's screen as a Friday Late Night Movie on December 7.

This offbeat cult-classic stars Bin Shimada as the eponymous Riki, a new prisoner at a high-tech penal institution of the future who finds himself challenged by the prison's violent, corrupt guards. When one of his friends is murdered by the jailers, Riki explodes into an unbelievable, outandish fury of violence as he seeks a unique kind of bloody vengeance against all who would cross him (Riki displays the remarkable ability to punch through his victims -- and occasionally even blow them up!).

"You should have been running to the video store before you got to this sentence." (Film Threat)

"A rather astonishing, starkly stylized blood flood set inside a privatized prison." (Village Voice)

RIKI-OH: THE STORY OF RICKY (Lam Ngai Kai, 1991 / 90 mins / 18A / English subs) Hard man Ricky is incarcerated in a futuristic prison where ultra-violence is his only means of survival in the corrupt, sadistic system. He must battle his way quite literally 'through' the feared 'gang of four', and undergo multiple tortures before facing the governor in one of the goriest climaxes ever seen.
